New Year Merriment

The amount of meaning, care, and spiritual significance I learned from drawing these symbols was humbling and inspiring.

This poster was designed for The SEAD Project in celebration of Hmong, Khmer, Lao, and Vietnamese new years, and in commemoration of 50 years since the Vietnam War’s end and the start of the Cambodian genocide. Last year marked 60 years since the start of the U.S.’s secret bombing of Laos. The U.S. has since received waves of refugees and immigrants from the region.

I envisioned for this milieu their continued abundance through community, emphasizing the joy found through intersections, shared values, and exchange of unique stories. Happy Pi Mai, Choul Chnam Thmey, Songkran, Tết and Noj Peb Caug to those who celebrate! I wish for everyone a sense of renewal and reignition towards making our collective dreams a reality.
